Cement, sulfur, bitumen and residue wax were the main commodities in transit during the period, the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development’s news service reported. Railroad holds a 10.2% share in Iran’s cargo transit. By the end of the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (2017-22), this share is planned to rise to 30% which, according to the deputy head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, Mohammad Reza Nosrat Nezami, requires an investment of $27.5 billion for railroad expansion, Financial Tribune reported.
